The standards, safeguards, and institutional commitments that govern how we work — not just what we deliver.
Pillar and Path Consulting holds itself to the highest standards of professional conduct, donor compliance, and ethical practice. These are not aspirational statements — they are operationalised through specific policies, procedures, and accountability mechanisms embedded in every assignment.
We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards bribery, fraud, and all forms of corruption. Our financial management procedures include segregation of duties, documented approval chains, and transparent expenditure reporting. All personnel engaged on assignments are required to sign anti-corruption declarations before engagement commences.
Every assignment we undertake is reviewed against Do-No-Harm principles before fieldwork begins. We assess and document potential risks to research participants, community members, and implementing partner staff — and put in place mitigation measures proportionate to those risks. Our field teams are trained in conflict-sensitive research methods.
Full PSEA compliance is a non-negotiable requirement on every assignment. Our PSEA framework includes: a written policy binding all personnel; mandatory PSEA awareness training before field deployment; designated reporting channels; and explicit PSEA clauses in all sub-consultant and associate agreements. We cooperate fully with any donor-required PSEA audits or investigations.
Our environmental and social safeguard protocols align with UNDP SES, GEF-8, World Bank ESF, and Pakistan EPA requirements. We conduct Social and Environmental Screening (SESP) at the outset of all programmes that carry environmental or social risk, and produce Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) documentation where required by the donor or implementing context.
We maintain full financial records in accordance with Pakistan's Companies Act 2017 and FBR tax obligations. All donor-financed expenditure is documented with supporting vouchers and receipts, and is available for audit upon request. Our financial proposals are transparently structured, with all cost components clearly disaggregated and justified.
Research data collected during assignments — including personal data of survey respondents, key informants, and programme beneficiaries — is held confidentially, stored securely, and shared only with authorised parties as defined in the assignment agreement. We obtain informed consent from all primary research participants before any data collection activity.
Our research protocols adhere to internationally recognised principles of research ethics: autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. We design all primary research instruments — survey tools, interview guides, observation protocols — with ethical review in mind, and take particular care in research involving vulnerable populations including women, children, and displaced persons.
We disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest to clients at the outset of procurement processes and during assignment delivery. Where a conflict cannot be adequately mitigated, we decline the engagement. Our principal consultant and all associates are required to disclose relevant prior relationships with implementing partners, government counterparts, and donor agencies before assignment.
Our governance and safeguard practices are aligned with the following internationally recognised frameworks and standards.
We are transparent about our compliance policies and happy to share relevant documentation with potential clients or donors on request.
